NE Ohio Values Voters will be watching
these races and keeping you aprised during this 2008 election cycle. Ohio Supreme Court Justice Evelyn Stratton (Republican) http://www.sconet.state.oh.us/justices/stratton/default.asp You may recall previously, a lower court had agreed with Attorney Mr. Hurley & ordered Planned Parenthood
to turn over redacted third-party patient records. Then the Court of Appeals in Hamilton County reversed that order,
siding with Planned Parenthood. The Ohio Supreme Court initially declined to accept the case but reversed itself &
accepted the case for review. Justice Evelyn Stratton reversed herself in favor of hearing the case against Planned
Parenthood. Due to her reversal the case will now be heard. Justice Stratton
was born to missionary parents in Bangkok, Thailand, and spent her childhood in Southeast Asia, attending boarding school
in South Vietnam during the height of the Vietnam War, and later in Malaysia, coming to America periodically with her parents.
At age 18, she returned to America alone with only a few hundred dollars in her pocket. She worked her way through school,
receiving a Juris Doctor degree from The Ohio State University College of Law. ****************************************************************** Congressional District 10 Rep. Jim Trakas (Republican) http://www.jimtrakas.org/ Pro-life and Pro-family From his website: Trakas (Cleveland values) believes
and supports a pro-life position on abortion except when the mother's life is in jeopardy and in cases of rape and incest.
He is consistent on this topic. Jim Trakas has previously received the endorsement of the Ohio Right to Life. Vs. Congressman Dennis Kucinich (Democrat) http://kucinich.house.gov/ Right-to-Choose, Privacy, and Civil Rights A woman's right-to-choose must be protected as essential to
personal privacy and gender equality. Only those who agree to uphold Roe v. Wade should be nominated for the Supreme Court.
Civil rights (and voting rights) enforcement must be intensified. Lesbians and gays must be afforded complete equality throughout
society, including in marriage. Affirmative action must be maintained as a tool for racial and gender equality. Drug policy
should emphasize treatment over criminalization, and not a rampaging war that erodes Constitutional freedoms, privacy, and
law enforcement resources. An end to capital punishment must be sought. --Dennis Kucinich ****************************************************************** Ohio Senate District 24Bay Village, Bentleyville, Berea,

This race is considered a "hot race" for Progressive Majority Reproductive Freedom: Women and
men - not politicians - deserve the right to make personal decisions about their reproductive health in accordance with their
own personal and moral beliefs. Jennifer Brady is the Representative from the 16th Ohio House District. Progressive Majority
endorsed Jennifer in 2006 because of her commitment to progressive values, activism in the community, strategic mindset and
strong work ethic. In 2006, Progressive Majority was one of very few organizations to support Jennifer after the House Democratic
Caucus wrote off her race. Since then, we have been working closely with her on strategy, field organization and fundraising.
According to Ohio Republican Party Chairman Bob Bennett, ''The 16th District is the number-one Republican target for
2008.'' It is a must-keep if Democrats are to take over the House. Traditionally, the 16th has been known as the most
Republican district in Cuyahoga County, which made Jennifer's 2006 victory the pleasant surprise of the cycle for Progressives.
The Republicans have recruited Nan Baker, a conservative member of the Westlake city council colloquially known as the ''Republican
Jennifer Brady.'' Jennifer has been a progressive champion in the Assembly who refuses to vote against her values,
thus displaying the courage and conviction that helped her win in 2006. Vs. Nan Baker (Republican) http://www.friendsofnanbaker.com/3 Term Westlake City Council Member. Married 33 years with 2 daughters, 26 and 23 and 1 son, 20. 33

Reproductive Freedom: Women and men - not politicians - deserve the right to make personal decisions about their reproductive

Cuyahoga County Recorder Patrick O'Malley Expected to Resign
as Soon as Today Thursday, May 15, 2008 Cleveland Plain Dealer
Cuyahoga County Recorder Patrick O'Malley is expected to resign in the face of a federal
criminal investigation that could result in charges as early as today, according to people familiar with the case. Speculation about O'Malley's future dominated conversation in county buildings on Wednesday, but almost no
one would talk on the record about the beleaguered recorder. "The rumors are rampant,"
Commissioner Tim Hagan said. "And if it's true, it's a tragedy." The findings
against O'Malley could result from a November 2004 raid of his Chagrin Falls house. FBI agents confiscated two personal
computers. A search warrant showed that investigators were looking for records of a billboard deal involving Cleveland that
O'Malley helped broker. The search warrant also said the FBI was looking for obscene material
at the time. O'Malley could not be reached for comment on Wednesday. Speculation in county
offices ranged from O'Malley cleaning out his desk to boarding a plane for Ireland. If O'Malley
resigns, county commissioners will appoint an interim recorder until the Democratic Party picks a replacement. Three names,
all connected to Cleveland City Hall, have surfaced as successors: City Council President Martin J. Sweeney, Councilman Joe
Cimperman and Clerk of Council Patricia Britt. Britt, vice chairwoman of the county Democratic
Party, said she heard only rumors about O'Malley's situation. She brushed away questions
about replacing him. She said she was still settling in as clerk, a position she took in January, after leaving City Council.
Whoever would get the party appointment must run for the job in November. Republican Cathy Luks
will be the opponent. O'Malley, 49, has been the quintessential connected politician. He roomed with County Prosecutor Bill Mason in college and served seven years on the Cleveland City Council, representing
the Old Brooklyn neighborhood. In 1997, he was appointed county recorder by the party, overseeing
an office responsible for tracking property ownership. A recent series in The Plain Dealer raised
questions about O'Malley's hiring practices, because many of his employees are connected to politicians. Scrutiny of O'Malley by federal law enforcement dates to at least 2004, when he was in the midst of a nasty divorce
with his wife, Vicki. The couple, who had two children together, divorced in February 2006. O'Malley
has three children from a previous marriage. He was involved in a fistfight in Chagrin Falls
in 2003 and found guilty of disorderly conduct. O'Malley said he was defending his teenage
son in a fight between the boy and three men over a debt. The O'Malleys separated in 2003,
and Vicki moved to Solon. In 2004, she called Solon police and said her husband physically abused
her. Police arrested O'Malley and charged him with domestic violence. A judge threw out the case, and Vicki accused her husband of using political connections to help him get out of jail
shortly after the arrest.
